Candidates for BCDP Chair

  • Kristen Robinson

    Kristen Robinson

Born and raised in Madison County, I come from a long line of lifetime Democrats. I know my grandmother Latrelle, who was a teacher and active member in the party all her life, is smiling down on me—proud of the work her granddaughter is doing for the Democratic Party.

In 2018, I joined the College Democrats of North Carolina and I haven’t looked back since! I’ve had the honor of holding the positions of Vice President of the Young Democrats of NC, 2nd Vice Chair for NC11, and President of the Buncombe County Young Dems, just to name a few.

I have had the honor of serving as BCDP’s 1st Vice Chair since October of 2023, and am proud to step up to run for Chair of the Buncombe County Democratic Party. If elected, I would be the youngest female Chair in the state. My experience working as an organizer has taught me that we must continue to fight for what we believe in, no matter the cost. We have a long road ahead of us in Buncombe County and we will work together for a better future. I hope to earn your vote on February 15th!

Candidates for State Executive Committee

  • Bill Baugh

    Bill Baugh

Bill, a lifelong member of the Democratic Party, attributes his steadfast political values to the early teachings of his father. After residing in Florida for three decades, he relocated to Buncombe County in 2020, continuing to uphold the principles that have shaped his civic identity throughout his life.

Bill, as a cofounder and owner of Custom Biologicals, Inc., has been instrumental in the manufacturing and distribution of microbial products for diverse environmental applications. His pivotal role in establishing an international distributor network has enriched his expertise in international business, underscoring the significance of global cooperation. This experience has led him to the profound realization that, fundamentally, humanity shares more similarities than differences. Such an understanding resonates deeply with his commitment to democratic values, reinforcing the belief in the shared dignity and rights of all individuals.

Upon moving to Buncombe County, Bill promptly contacted the Buncombe Democratic headquarters, where he received a response from Denise Marecki, who provided him with essential training for front desk operations.

This initial engagement sparked a deepening commitment to political activism. Presently, Bill contributes to the Buncombe Democrats in various roles, including serving as a front desk volunteer, Precinct Vice Chair for Riceville, Co-Cluster Leader for Riceville/Swannanoa, and a member of the training committee.

Bill is committed to advancing the success of the Buncombe County Democratic Party by enhancing the efficient allocation of volunteer hours in support of electoral efforts. Furthermore, he aims to extend his assistance to the neighboring counties within District 11, striving to optimize Democratic voter turnout and ensure the effective engagement of volunteers in the electoral process.

  • Joey Melone

    Joey Melone

My name is Joey Melone, and I am a senior at AC Reynolds High School. I've been involved with the Buncombe Dems for 4 years, volunteering, and now working on various campaigns ranging from school board to congressional races.

In 2021 I got my start with the Teen Dems, rising to co-president and then President of the county auxiliary by 2023. In 2023, I was elected Vice President of the Young Democrats of Buncombe County and appointed Finance Director of the Young Democrats of North Carolina, assisting in raising more than $100,000 for the organization.

In 2024 I served as one of the youngest field organizers in Western NC, for Caleb Rudow's campaign for NC11, and as an intern for Lindsey Prather's campaign for State House, recruiting, training and managing volunteers across the district. My future goals are to pursue a political science degree at UNC Greensboro, while continuing my work to get young people involved, and to get Democrats elected at every level across the state.

I am running as an experienced, responsive and driven candidate. I hope to earn your vote on February 15th!

  • Steven Nguyen

    Steven Nguyen

My name is Steven Nguyen. I am a sophomore at UNCA majoring in Political Science and my passion for making a difference has led me to run for an SEC seat. I'm Originally from San Diego, California, but I have been living in the Triangle area most of my life after my parents moved here due to losing their manufacturing job during the Great Recession. I am relatively new to being a part of the Democratic Party for the '24 election was my first time voting. Ever Since coming to UNCA I have gotten connected with the Buncombe dems and from this I have been given the opportunity to represent my generation through introducing Tim Walz when he came to Asheville mid-september, organizing canvases and phone banking to recruit individuals to help us rally the vote after Hurricane Helene. I am running for this position to gain more insight on the inner mechanisms of our state party, this better understanding can help me in my endeavors to educate the younger generation on their civic duty.

  • George Stowe

    George Stowe

My name is George Stowe, I was one of the Kamala’s captains in Buncombe county during the 2024 election season. I love the Democratic Party, we as the worlds oldest political party have a more profound effect on the world than any other political group. We are the reason we have Social Security, the Affordable Care Act, Medicare, and the Civil Rights Act. Many of these amazing achievements are under attack by Republicans not only in Congress, but the White House as well now. For these next few election cycles, we need nothing but victory. It seems to many that we as a party have forgotten how to win, yet I do not believe this is true. We need to monolize everything and everyone we have to make sure we as a party have a path to victory in 2026 and 2028, as well as protecting our many great achievements we’ve had for decades. I have the intuition, the persistence, and the smarts to help bring our party to victory. I love the Democratic Party, I love the great state of North Carolina, and I love the United States.
