Turning Anger Into Action -- What an Event!
Thanks to all (and that's a LOT) who joined us on Sunday at BCDP HQ for our Blue Hearts for Democracy: Turn Anger into ACTION resource fair.
Our headquarters was filled with people that share one goal: to find ways to protect and preserve our democracy!
Special guest NCDP Chair Anderson Clayton rocked the house. Here's a link to her speech. Other elected officials that spoke included: Representatives Eric Ager and Lindsey Prather, Commissioners Drew Ball and Martin Moore, and Asheville City Councilmember Bo Hess.
The event featured representatives from Common Cause NC, Indivisible Asheville/WNC, Pisgah Legal Services, Sierra Club, Meals on Wheels, Asheville City Association of Educators, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 238, and more.
Thanks to all who pitched in and helped plan and prepare, set up and provide food, get folks signed in, give informative handouts, and welcome many new faces to our headquarters.
We are planning more events like this in the future - perhaps outdoors when the weather warms up! So stay tuned and stay engaged!
Congratulations to the Buncombe County CEC Election Winners
On Saturday, February 15th, the County Executive Committee (CEC) elected the following:
Buncombe County Democratic Party Chair: Kristen Robinson
Buncombe County Democratic Party 1st Vice Chair: Ed Kramer
State Executive Committee Member: Bill Baugh
State Executive Committee Member: Joey Melone
State Executive Committee Member: Steven Nguyen
BCDP wishes to thank all the volunteers who worked so hard to put this meeting together, who served as tellers carefully entering an enormous amount of data to determine the winners, runners who collected the ballots, and the County Executive Committee members who carefully considered the candidates, came to cast their votes, and waited patiently to hear the results.
Congratulations to the winners with appreciation to all who stepped up to run!
"Take Action" Item of the Week
Weekly ways to stand up for our communities and our democracy.
One of our major tasks in 2025 is to build an ever-stronger coalition to fight back against the destruction of our democracy!
Many people are concerned about how our freedoms, rights and communities are being attacked daily, but don't know where to go for information on how to get involved.
One way to help in the fight is to spread the word. The more people our Democratic Party can reach, the more they hear from us rather than slanted media and "bots" that put out lies on Republican-owned social platforms.
So please follow Buncombe Dems (or Buncombe Democrats) official feeds on social media, and when you see a post or image you like, hit the like button, comment if you wish, and share to your contacts. And when you post messages about what's going on politically, tag @buncombedems so others see and possibly amplify your post too. These actions will help get Democratic messages out to an increasing audience and get more people involved.
