North Carolina Delegation Endorses Kamala Harris for President (BCDP Weekly)

We are grateful to President Biden for his years of service to our country.

As President Biden said in his Letter to America:
Today, America has the strongest economy in the world. We've made historic investments in rebuilding our Nation, in lowering prescription drug costs for seniors, and in expanding affordable health care to a record number of Americans. We've provided critically needed care to a million veterans exposed to toxic substances. Passed the first gun safety law in 30 years. Appointed the first African American woman to the Supreme Court. And passed the most significant climate legislation in the history of the world. America has never been better positioned to lead than we are today.

President Biden has endorsed Kamala Harris for President.

VP Harris Is Ready to Earn and Win the Democratic Nomination!

Following President Biden’s decision not to seek reelection, the North Carolina Delegation to the Democratic National Convention has agreed that Vice President Harris is ready to earn and win the Democratic nomination and the best positioned to unite our party and beat Donald Trump.

VP Harris spent the past four years as a governing partner to the most experienced president in American history. She helped pass and implement historic legislation and strengthen America’s national security through her travels to more than 20 countries and meetings with more than 150 world leaders. She would enter the office of president with more significant national security experience than any of the four presidents prior to President Biden.

Her record as VP builds on a distinguished career as District Attorney, Attorney General, and United States Senator. She is the party’s leading messenger on reproductive freedom and will ensure that Trump’s role in overturning Roe is front and center in this election. Her work as a prosecutor makes her the ultimate contrast to Trump, the convicted felon.

The North Carolina Delegation to the Democratic National Convention voted unanimously to pledge their support for Kamala Harris.

Take Action

How can you make a difference in this year's election - probably one of the most important ones in our lifetime?

The most effective way is canvassing (door knocking). Our calendar below for the week, or farther out at buncombedems.org/calendar, provides many opportunities to be trained, paired up with an experienced canvasser, and have fun talking with people.

The next most effective way to reach voters (and those who should vote but might not) is phoning. Phone banking is easy to do -- all you need is your phone and a computer or tablet. We'll train you on the program that provides targeted phone numbers and suggested scripts. Whether someone answers and you have a conversation, or you leave a voicemail and drop them a text, you've made a connection and possibly gotten a vote for Democrats up and down the ballot!

Does phone banking work?  Researcher David W. Nickerson found that calls boosted turnout by almost four percent in eight different studies. Even more studies (Nickerson, Friedrichs and King) found that phone calls significantly boosted turnout compared to similar voters who did not receive the calls.

You can call from BCDP Headquarters or from your home, with support available to you either way.  We offer many options -- take a look at our calendar for Phone Banks and give it a try (or jump back in if you've done it before).  Reaching out to voters WILL make a difference!
