Happy Independence Day! (BCDP Weekly)

As we celebrate the birth of our country, it's also a great time to think about what each of us can to do to preserve our Democracy and safeguard our rights, our healthcare, our education system, our planet and our future. For Buncombe County and all of North Carolina, it means focusing on helping Democrats win, especially at the state and local level that will most affect our day-to-day lives and communities.

The Buncombe Dems wish you a safe, happy and democratic 4th of July!

The Importance of Local Races

Where can a Buncombe County voter make the MOST difference at the ballot box? In our State, Judicial and Local races!  Some of these in the past have been decided by razor-thin margins; your vote could actually be the deciding one.

Do you know the Democrat running for Governor? US Congress? Attorney General? Superintendent of Public Instruction? Judge? County Commission? Municipal Offices? To see who is running for office all the way down the ballot (except races still in filing periods), and view the candidates' websites to become more familiar with their positions, visit '24 Candidates — Buncombe Dems.

Also check our Calendar — Buncombe Dems page to find ways to meet and talk directly with candidates -- let them know your ideas and concerns and hear what they stand for. Many neighborhood-level events are coming up throughout Buncombe this month. NOW is a great time to get more involved!

What Will the "Dance for Democracy" do for Buncombe County Democrats?

The Dance for Democracy fundraiser will help us implement several vital programs this year.

Your donation will allow us to print and distribute literature to Get Out The Vote and let people know about the whole Democratic slate. To amplify outreach. To keep the lights on at HQ. To defend specifically targeted and unfairly gerrymandered Democrats. To support our incredible volunteers and more!

Whether you dance or not, please click here to support the BCDP in these essential efforts!

Take Action

BCDP at the Mountain State Fair

We are proud to participate in the Western North Carolina Mountain State Fair this year, providing materials & information about our Democratic candidates and County Parties in the NC 11th Congressional District. If you are interested in volunteering to cover one or more shifts, please review the remaining shifts that still need volunteers, and sign up! Materials will already be at the booth so all you'll need to do is engage with passersby. This is a really fun way to have meaningful conversations with folks!

Early Voting Poll Observers Needed

Volunteer to be a Poll Observer during Early Voting.  Serving as a Poll Observer is a very worthy role to ensure we have safe and fair elections. Each observer is recommended to the Board of Elections by the Buncombe County Democratic Party Chair, and the first step in being recommended is to sign up for shifts on this site. Note: see the tabs along the top of the signup window or dropdown menu to choose your local Early Voting poll site.
